Canesten Dual Action Athletes Foot Cream, 30g
Canesten Dual Action Athletes Foot Cream contains the active ingredient clotrimazole, which is part of a group of medicines called imidazoles. It fights the bacteria and fungi which cause the athlete’s foot, working to treat the infection and stop it from coming back.

What is Athlete’s foot
Athlete’s foot is a common fungal infection that affects the feet. You can usually treat it with creams, sprays or powders from a pharmacy, but it can keep coming back.
One of the main symptoms of Athlete’s foot is itchy white patches between your toes.
It can also cause sore and flaky patches on your feet.
The skin can look red, but this may be less noticeable on brown or black skin.
Sometimes the skin on your feet may become cracked or bleed.
Athlete’s foot can also affect your soles or sides of your feet. It sometimes causes fluid-filled blisters.
If it’s not treated, the infection can spread to your toenails and cause a fungal nail infection.
Athlete’s foot is unlikely to get better on its own, but you can buy antifungal medicines for it from a pharmacy. They usually take a few weeks to work.
Athlete’s foot treatments are available as:
- creams
- sprays
- powders
They’re not all suitable for everyone – for example, some are only for adults. Always check the packet or ask a pharmacist.
You might need to try a few treatments to find one that works best for you.
You can keep using some pharmacy treatments to stop athlete’s foot coming back.
It’s also important to keep your feet clean and dry. You do not need to stay off work or school.

dry your feet after washing them, particularly between your toes – dab them dry rather than rubbing them
use a separate towel for your feet and wash it regularly
take your shoes off when at home
wear clean socks every day – cotton socks are best
DON’T
do not scratch affected skin – this can spread it to other parts of your body
do not walk around barefoot – wear flip-flops in places like changing rooms and showers
do not share towels, socks or shoes with other people
do not wear the same pair of shoes for more than 2 days in a row
do not wear shoes that make your feet hot and sweaty

How to use
How To Use Canesten Dual Action Athletes Foot Cream
Apply the cream thinly to affected areas 2 – 3 times a day and rub in gently. When treating Athletes foot, the foot should be washed and dried throughly between the toes before applying the antifungal cream. The treatment should be continued for at least one month to prevent re-infection, however a physician should be consulted if symptoms do not improve within 7 days. Do not use the cream to treat nail or scalp infections.
Ingredients
The active anti-fungal ingredient clotrimazole
also contains Benzyl Alcohol, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Stearate, Cetyl Palmitate, Cetostearyl Alcohol, Octyldodecanol and Purified Water (see the enclosed leaflet for further information)

Do not use Canesten Athlete’s Foot Cream if you are allergic to clotrimazole, cetostearyl, or any of the other listed ingredients. Do not use this product to treat nail or scalp infections. For external use only. Do not put this cream into your mouth or swallow it. If you accidentally swallow this product, seek medical attention straight away, taking the product and its packaging with you. If you accidentally get this product into your mouth or eyes, rinse right away with cool water and speak to your doctor as soon as possible.
Side Effects
Like all medicines, Canesten Dual Action Athletes Foot Cream can have side effects, although not everyone will get them. You may see symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as:
- Rash
- Swallowing or breathing problems
- Nausea
- Swelling of the lips, face, throat, or tongue
- Weakness, dizziness, or feeling faint
If you experience any of these symptoms, stop using Canesten Athlete’s Foot Cream and seek medical advice right away. Other side effects of this product include:
- Itching
- Rash
- Blisters
- Burning
- Discomfort
- Swelling
- Irritation
- Redness or peeling of the skin
