Anabact Gel – Metronidazole 0.75%, 40g
Anabact Gel is a clear, pale yellow gel for application to the skin. Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel contains metronidazole which is an antibiotic. It is effective against the bacteria which cause a bad smell in infected tumours and ulcers.

How To Use
How To Use Anabact Gel
Always use Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel exactly as your doctor has told you.
You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel should not be used on children under the age of 12 years.
Usual Dose Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel is for external use only.
For the deodorisation of the smell associated with infected tumours and ulcers, clean the wound thoroughly.
Apply the gel over the complete area and cover with a non-adherent dressing.
Use once or twice daily until the smell has disappeared.
If you forget to use Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel If you forget to apply Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel, do so as soon as you remember and then go on as before. If accidently swallowed, contact your nearest hospital casualty department or tell your doctor immediately. Keep using your medicine until your doctor tells you to stop. If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Product Information of Anabact Gel
BEFORE YOU USE ANABACT 0.75% w/w GEL
Do not use Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel if you • are allergic (hypersensitive) to metronidazole or any of the other ingredients of Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel (see section 6). Take special care with Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel Avoid strong sunlight as metronidazole is not stable under ultra-violet light. Do not use Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel near or in your eyes. If the gel does get into your eyes, rinse carefully with water. Taking other medicines Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. Special care should be taken if you are taking: • anti-coagulant medicines, such as warfarin • anti-epileptic medicines, such as phenobarbital Metronidazole taken by mouth can react with alcohol but this effect has never been reported with metronidazole applied to the skin. Such an effect is extremely unlikely as the amount of metronidazole entering the blood through the skin is very small. Pregnancy and breast-feeding Do not use Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel if you are pregnant, think that you may be pregnant or if you are breast-feeding. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine. Important information about some of the ingredients of Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel contains Bronopol which can cause local skin reactions such as contact dermatitis; propylene glycol which may cause skin irritation and hydroxybenzoic acid esters which may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. the If you experience persistent irritation or burning of the skin or any unusual effects, stop using the gel and contact your doctor. Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel can cause • Dryness of the skin • Stinging • Irritation If necessary, remove medication by washing with warm water. Reporting of side effects If you get any side effects talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly via the Yellow Card Scheme at: www.gov.uk/yellowcard. By reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety o t f his medicine

Ingredients of Anabact Gel
The active substance is metronidazole, 0.75% w/w.
– The other ingredients are Bronopol, hydroxybenzoic acid esters, hydroxyethylcellulose, propylene glycol, phosphoric acid and purified water.
How to Store
How to Store Anabact Gel
Keep out of the sight and reach of children. Do not store above 25ºC. Replace the cap on the tube after use. Keep the tube in the outer carton to protect it from light. Once the tube has been opened, discard your medication after 28 days. Do not use Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel after the expiry date that is stated on the tube crimp and on the carton after EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month. If your doctor tells you to stop using Anabact 0.75% w/w Gel, take the tube back to the pharmacist for safe disposal. Medicines should not be disposed of via household waste. These measures will help to protect the environment
